Moderators used to be for specific sections 2-3 normally in the old days such as someone could be over a paranormal area and a couple more, keep it neat and make sure topics were on topic etc. Global mods were to help the moderators when needed and could moderate anywhere on the board. Usually they had the same powers, or maybe a global mod could reopen a thread if a moderator had locked one due to problems. Now days I just use global mod, that way members know the moderators listed monitor the entire board.

Just curious. Do you go to the proboard support forum? They have a great help section that is good for admins, mods and users.

From previous experience on forums I have always known it to be that Moderators only have some options to be able to moderate certain forums whereas global moderators have the powers to moderate all forums and also moderate certain parts of people's profiles to an extent.
